  1. Hi. I captured old VHS tapes into DV using my camera passtrough feature. After that, I get a video file with some noise, pixels, a little blur and some a few bottom lines. Is there any filter to use in TMPGEnc while I encode into MPEG2? How to use them?
    Thanks

  3. The garbage at the bottom is probably best just letterboxed out. I usually box out 8 on the bottom and top.

Crop / mask those lines. On VHS tapes there are always there, but we don't see them because they are on TV's overscan area.

  5. Ok, it´s easy to crop, but what are the best settings for noise filter in TMPGEnc? Is there any special thing to take care of? Do you suggest to use VirtualDub instead of TMPGEnc for filtering?
    Thanks for your support

Note that the advice was mask not crop. Mask covers part of the file whereas crop removes part of the file.

Cropping the file will change the aspect ratio of the file which could make everything slighty taller with respect to width.

    Good Luck

Can I mask encoding with TMPGEnc?

  8. TMPGEnc: Setting, Advanced tab, Clip Frame filter, select Top Mask and Bottom Mask, set size.
