  1. ok, i'm using virtualdubmod and substation alpha. i create the susbtitle file with substation and save it. works fine. i open up wirtualdub, add the susbtitler filter and open the subtitle file. it shows up in the preview window just like it should. when i try to save the video the subtitle aren't there. the way i'm saving is File>Save>Direct Stream Copy and save it as what name i want. so what am i doing wrong guys?

Direct stream copy does exactly that, it copies the stream without doing any processing to it. You need to set Vdubmod to full processing mode. Otherwise none of the filters do anything.
