Hey, i'm kinda new to this but i know how to make dvd's etc, but lately i've been having a problem with my dvd movies going out of the screen. I convert my avi files using vso's divx to dvd, 4:3 aspect and NTSC format. After that i made menus with dvd-lab pro. After it was done, I played it on my ps2 and my stand-alone dvd player. The results were pictures showing, but it seems to be bigger than the tv screen, both on regular size tv, and widescreen tv. I also tried authoring with TMPGEnc dvd author, but same problems. It's like it's only centering on 95% of the picture while the rest is gone due to not showing up.
I played the dvd on my comp using PowerDvd, and the whole picture shows up fine. Any suggestions?

Do a search on overscan and you will find an answer.

If you use TMPGEnc to encode the video, you can use overscan compensation, which means you slightly shrink the image to about 90% of the total resolution. This will result in none of the video being cut off by overscan.
However, generally speaking, overscan does not neccessarily hurt a movie. it cut's off a relatively small part of the image. it is very annoying, though (as is interlacing) which is why i usually watch movies on my computer instead. No overscan, no interlacing.

Overscan
The area at the edges of a television tube that is covered to hide possible video distortion. Overscan typically covers about 4 or 5 percent of the picture. If in doubt, Google it.
