    hi guys.

    my strange question is..

after authoring a movie using dvdlab or tmpg dvd author i get a picture on my dvd player thats all screwded up until i press fast forward for a sec then press play and every thing is all right till the next part starts and i need to do the steps above again.

to demuxing the video file from the bin i used...

    svcd2dvdmpg...
i used the dvd patcher method to use tmpgenc author..
and dvdlab has its own demuxing

does anyone else ever has this situation and how didu resolve it?

    thxs

Could be that your particular player doesn't like SVCD mpegs authored as DVD?
Doesn't DVDPatcher and SVCD2DVDMPG to the same thing (in essence)? Why do yo use both?

i have 2 players that it does the same..
    phillips 642
    jvc 312

svcd2dvdmpg....i used this to seperate the audio and video to use in both programs tmpgenc author and dvd lab

dvdpatcher..i used this to change the mpg from 480 svcd to 352 svcd so that tmpg dvd author can use this file to encode the vid and audio on its own

dvdlab does it straight from the extracted mpg

so i tried numerous ways but the same outcome

  4. Whatever method you used, the actual video is sticll SVCD 480x480. This is NOT DVD compliant, so it may well be your player(s) is not happy with this resolution on a DVD. Try re-encoding one of your vides to 325x480, which IS DVD compliant and see if this fixes the problem. If it does, it is the player that is the problem.

You use "any" mpeg2 encoder like TMPGEnc (with the mpeg2 plugin), MainConcept & cetera

    thxs guys..

    it worked ..i encoded the 480 x 576 video to 352 x 480 using tmpgenc..

    and both players were fine..

next question..is there a faster way to encode a mpeg2 800 meg file in less than 50 mins, which tempgenc does ?

  10. Since you have a Philips 642, just put your SVCD MPEG files on an ISO data DVD. It will play them. Looks like your JVC will play them too. Of course you won't get fancy menus and such.

    Two.
    1) Get a faster processor.
    2) Get a faster encoder. CCE is the fastest. TMPGEnc among the slower.

PS! Encoding time isn't related to source file size - it's # of frames in the source that count! DS

    Should be 352x480.
    If in doubt, Google it.

<just trying to stop potential NOOBs' questions when they try to author 325x480 MPEGs>
    If in doubt, Google it.
