    So its a standalone DVD recorder with firewire, no tuner, but a USB 2 connection for use with a PC.

    Not that special IMHO. My Phillips DVDr 75 has firewire for connectiong a DV cam, its just missing the USB 2.0 connection. Plus the 75 has a tuner for recording off-air
