I want to make a copy of one of my DVD that apart from the movie contains a directors cut. I dont want to remove anything and neither compress it so i will have to copy it to 2 DVD's. I have tried Clone DVD 2 and the first disc works perfect but the second one shows only the movie in directors cut version.

I have read that DVD X Copy Platinum can allso split a DVD to 2 DVD's but will i have the same problem whit the second disc showing only the movie in directors cut version?

It will split it into 2 Dvds but you choose what goes on which dvd and where the split actually is at. personally i quit using it and mainly use dvd shrink now. shrink takes longer but you don't have to split and i have not had any problems with video quality even when i backed up my copy of LOTR the fellowship of the ring extended version. And i had to shrink it twice.

So the DVD in question contains both the theatrical release and a director's cut? And you want to split it so that one DVD contains the theatrical release and the other DVD contains the director's cut?

The easiest way (although not a 'one click' solution) would be to use VobBlanker. On the first run, blank the director's cut and on the second run blank the theatrical release. If you're lucky, you won't have to do any compression to make each version of the movie fit on a single DVD.

    Good luck!

Must i put the theatrical release on one disc and director's cut on the other if i want to keep them both? If i do that i have to compress the movie which i dont want to.

Sorry, I'm confused ... I thought that you wanted to split the different versions to separate DVDs. Will both versions of the movie fit on single DVD5? Will either version of the movie fit on a DVD5?

    DVDFab is the answer.
I have done a few DVD-9 backups with it, split to 2 DVD's.
I have not encountered any problems and the procedure is very easy.

Did they have any directors cut? Becaus thats when i have problems. Without directors cut it works perfect but when the dvd have a directors cut the second disc will only show the movie in directors cut version but not in the theatrical version.

I have tried that but the directors cut parts aint that big. If i remove directors cut and the extra material (which i would like to have on my copy) it will still be around 6GB, so i have to compress it and that is what i want to avoid. Its allso very hard and takes a long time for me, who are very new to this, to make it work. The copy i made didn't have any sound and the second disc didn't have a menu .

I gess i have to remove the directors cut if i want to keep the extramaterial and avoid compression, but thank you for wanting to help me .

    @Starthir:

For the life of me I cannot work out exactly what it is you are trying to achieve here. My understanding was that you have a DVD with both the theatrical release an a directors cut editon, and that you wanted to backup the entire disc, preferably with no compression required at all. Correct ?

If so, what is wrong with your first disc containing the theatrical version and your second disc containing the directors cut ?

I think you need to cleary spell out exactly what it is that you want here
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yes that is what i want to do. The problem whit spliting the theatrical version on one disc and directors cut on the other is that i will still have to compress it.
I have allso understood that what i want to do aint that easy as i would like it to be so i will just remove the directors cut. But as i sad, thank you all for wanting to help me, i really appreciated it.

OK, well what if you take the theatrical version by itself, remove unnecessary audio streams, etc. in DVDShrink, is it still oversize ?

If you don't want to compress the theatrical cut, but it's over 4.37GB, then you're up shit creek without a paddle unless you're willing to split it as well - have say 3/4 of it on one DVD then the other 1/4 on another.
    If in doubt, Google it.
