    1gb DDR ram dual channel
    ATI Radeon x800pro pci-express

If you have a comparable AMD and P4 the P4 is faster for encoding video. On the other hand the AMD is better for gaming, this won't effect quality though, just encoding speed.

ah yes encoding sorry for the miss-understanding. When i want to save my projects, i go to File, Render as, then it starts rendering (encoding) the video to what ever format i choose like AVI for windows etc..

But anyone have any tips on how to get the better quality? i just dont understand how the exact same settings on both computers will yeild different quality on the finished project.

I would suggest you have missed something somehwere and they are not the same, there's plenty to adjust.

Do you still have some of the original sources that converted well and some of the original video you have converted. I'd compare the properties of both to what you have now.
