Problems splitting an avi file in v-dub

I have an avi file that is sync'd up perfectly in whole. When I split it the file is always out of sync. I;m using the scroll bar ansd "Next Key Frame" to find my cutting point. What am I dong wrong. Any help would be appreciated. To those with the answers, I thank you

Is the audio a Variable Bit Rate MP3? If so, demux it and convert it into a constant bit rate file. Remux it back into the file. Hope that works for you.
