I've read in a few posts (back in the history) that someone stated that it was possible to burn XVCD with VCDImage. Since VCDEasy is a GUI for this, has anyone tried making an XVCD with this? I know Nero will do it, but if I can get away with VCDEasy... In other words, I really don't want to have two different burn utilities if at all possible.

  2. Yes I have made several XVCD with VCDEasy. The ones I made were 352x240 with 2-pass vbr MPEG-1 and I used the VCD 2.0 setting in VCDEasy. No problems creating or playing the disk.

  3. Is it possible to make an XVCD with higher res than 352x240 using
    VCDEasy?

IŽd like a little better res than VCD....

Or is Nero the only alternative?

  4. You can use pretty much whatever resolution/bitrate you want.
VCDEasy is a VCD/SVCD authoring program, it doesn't actually do the MPEG encoding.
You can encode in TMPGEnc using standard templates for VCD/SVCD, or modified templates for XVCD/XSVCD at whatever settings your DVD player will accept.
Then bring the encoded MPEG file into VCDEasy to author and burn.
If you use non-standard settings in TMPGEnc you will see warnings in VCDEasy when you create the disk, but it should still work. You need to experiment to find out if your DVD player will handle XVCD or XSVCD and what settings work.
I like to make XVCD at 352x480 with 2-pass vbr MPEG-1. The quality is a lot better than standard VCD.

  5. Thanks, I'll try some settings.

I did a xvcd 480x280 but my stand alone dvd player rejected it so i thought VCDEasy didn't manage to create xvcd.

I did uncheck analyze mpeg files and perform MPEG compliance checks

See you in a couple of days :0)
