  1. Whenever I tried to make an animated menu in GUI for DVDAuthor, rather than the video file I had installed, the first menu would always have a still image from the first menu of a days old previous project (including buttons), with the new buttons superimposed, and the new audio playing on a loop as intended.

    I wondered if it was pulling something out of the temporary files (I changed the output file for the new project numerous times without any effect), so I asked for the temporary files to be deleted on my next attempt. This time the "create dvd" process stopped early on with the error message;

    Unable to open file D:\program files\gfd\temp\MMBackg.mv2 for reading

    Why should it be trying to read anything from the temporary files? Is this usual? I am certain that this was not my doing- I tried using various different (compatible) video files from different directories.

    This is seemingly only a problem with the video, as making a menu with still images and audio completes normally even with the temporary files deleted.

    Could I simply be doing something wrong, or has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks for any advice,

  2. Unable to open file D:\program files\gfd\temp\MMBackg.mv2 for reading
    This error means that the "new" animated main menu was not created... I think there is an error in the MMScript.avs file or QuEnc itself. In order to check this:
    1. Test the menu with the avs preview function in GFD
    2. Use the "Create Batch" function
    3. Start QuEnc by hand (double click on quenc.exe in D:\program files\gfd)
    4. Use the MMScript.avs from D:\program files\gfd\temp as input video
    5. Start the encoding in QuEnc
    6. Look for any error messages...

  3. Thanks again for the quick reply Borax. There was indeed a problem with QuEnc- it wasn't there! I had to extract all the files manually to install, and I guess that one just slipped through the net.

    Anyway, everything seems to work now, so thanks again for your help,
