hi i am looking for a dvd authoring program between a simple one like sonic, and an advanced one like adobe encore. i tried dvd-lab, and that was perfect, except i need it to be able to burn .avi files. any suggestions? thanks

You cannot author avi files and burn them to dvd. All authoring programs for dvd require mpeg2 dvd-compliant files.

@spol, do you mean your source videos are .avi, and you need an Encoder to make them DVD Compliant?
If so, you could go with DVD LabpPro, and add in their DVD Source Creator option for $29.00

Or go with an encoder of your choice:
-Canopus Procoder
-Mainconcept Mpeg Standalone
Or get an Authoring Package that has a builtin Encoder with some advanced Authoring tools like subtitles, playlists, multiple audio tracks -- Ulead's DVD Workshop 2.0 Express might fit that description...George
