  1. Hello,
    I have a Lifeview 98, using virtual dub the maximum resolution I can capture to is 353x240x24. Does this sound right? Should i be able to caputure higher?

    Win-XP(PRO)
    Amd 1400
    768mb ram
    (using the drivers from the lifeview site, although looks as is virtual dub is using a microsoft capture driver)

    Thanks =)

  3. Ohh, one more question...
    If this is the highest I can capture at, should I invest in a better capture card? (for the purpose of taking vhs cassettes and makeing svcd out of them)
    Would a higher resolution benifit me any (even if I was to use a filter to make it smaller again)?

    Just want to make sure I am getting the best I can going from vhs...

    Thanks a bunch =)

  4. If your capping from VHS a higher horizontal res won't benefit too much, a higher vertical res should be used though, you seem to be NTSC so you should cap at 480. Make sure you capping 30fps and in YUY2 aswell btw. Also try using huffyuv codec (or Picvideo).

  5. Found this on the Virtual Dub site:
    -------------------------------
    "VirtualDub needs a Video for Windows capture driver to capture. Most Firewire (DV) devices do not provide a VFW driver, and thus cannot be used by VirtualDub at all. Also, ATI appears to be shipping their current devices with a WDM (Windows Driver Model) driver only; this can be used indirectly by VirtualDub through a Microsoft wrapper, but it is crippled in functionality and it also appears that the wrapper is buggy.

    The wrapper will show up as "Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32)." If it works for you, great."
    -----------------------------------
    If this i limiting my res, than how can i go about fixing it?
    I am using the huffy codec, have not tried the picvideo, also have tried setting it to yuy2 (all in custom format)...
