I re-installed Win 98SE and kept the system files intact. Now whenever I play any mpeg, avi or svcd file...it jerks. The problem was not present before I re-installed Win 98SE. Any help would be appreciated.

what kind of system are you running? what kind of video card? how much ram? what kind of processor?

Well I thought it wouldnt be necessary coz I mentioned that it was working fine before I re-installed Win 98SE but anyways I have a P3 733 MHz processor, 320 mb ram, Intel d815eea built in video card.

Ensure that your Hard Drive and CD/DVD drive controllers are using the correct drivers and are set for optimal performance, DMA mode etc. check Device Manager for conflicts... Also make sure you have re-installed your codecs...
