I know I can set up a slideshow of jpgs from a DVD but what if I want to display a page of text? Do I have to convert text to jpg?

Nothing yet. I have two or three pages of text I'd like to add and link to from the main menu.

Doh!!! I could just format and add the text to a menu - that would actually be the easiest and that way the user could go back to the main menu whenever they're done reading.

    Thanks's for listening!

    P.S. Using TMPGEnc DVD Auth

Looks like TMPGEnc DVD Author won't let me add text if its not the Menu title or Chapter label. Is there a way to add text to a menu in the Theme Edit Mode?

Use Photoshop, use the DVD menu template and add text to it to make your three pages. Then encode each page with TMPGENC with music (or a silent WAV etc.) for the desired length. I think that's what you want

  7. Screencap the text with a free utility like HyperSnap DX4. Or you could use something like DVD Menu Studio or PhotoShop Elements to generate the text in a 720 x 480 frame. Resize to 720 x 480 and convert the uncompressed TIF into JPG with PhotoShop or Corel Draw or MS Paint or GIMP 2.0. Then Use AViSynth or VirtualDubMod or Ulead MediaStudio Pro or Adobe Premiere or Vegas Video to convert a series of jpg files into a slideshow. How long each screen of text lasts is determined by how many times you tell the program to copy it -- at 30 frames/sec, you get 1 sec if you paint the jog onscreen for 30 successive frames.
