If so, could someone let me know how? Or if it's a bad-good idea? Thanks

Yes, it is possible but the quality may not be good. But there are exceptions. I have a DVD haredware decoder that had a TV out daughterboard and the quality was quite good. You could buy a video card with TV output (e.g. ATI's AIW) and use it to view DVDs on your television. As I said in the begining the quality varies with the card.

someone once posted this product. i don't have one. if you end up getting it, please post your evaluation back here. -
If you want the best TV out quality you want a hollywood magic + card. It costs less than $50. The AIW (I have both this card and a Hollywood Magic) is the best all in one card but if you aren't a gamer and don't want the VIVO options then you WANT a Hollywood Magic. The picture quality kicks AIWs ass.
