I'm making a video that will be nothing more than a high quality Quicktime file upon completion. [No MPEG2s for DVDs or anything.]
So. Once and for all... how do I get rid of the crappy interlacing lines that rear their ugly head in scenes with any kind of moderate movement?
The de-interlace filter within FCP doesn't do much of anything for QT output, it seems.
What to do?

Dandy little application, but is there any way to avoid massive file size increases without shrinking down the size of the video?

For what purpose? After all, you are effectively doubling the video information of your movie. If you plan on continuing to edit then I would say keep it in your de-interlaced DV. If you are creating a final output then consider a 3ivX single pass at high quality, or DivX or any MPEG-4 based codec.
