  1. Hi,
I've seen it stated that it's necessary to replace the scandata.dat file in the EXT folder to allow FF within an SVCD disk. However, Nero won't let me replace this file. Indeed the file contents of the existing scandata.dat matches the "new" one on this site other than the case.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks!

  2. You should try the newest version of NERO. Somebody claim that it's been fixed for this bug. Alternative, use VCDImager instead this help correcting time scale, FF/RW and Goto funtion.

i suggest you use TSCV, that uses VCDImager. or use VCDImager with its own GUI.

  5. I do have v5.5.6.4 of Nero and unfortunately the problem still exists. I have just started playing with TSCV, perhaps I'll have more success there. Is it really the case that it's the scandata.dat file which is the problem?

  6. I believe, it is about scandata.dat and SVCD complatible. I'm used to burn SVCD with NERO (5.5.1. without scandata.dat, FF/RW doen't work but Goto works, but after I added scandata.dat FF/RW now works but Goto doesn't work. So it might be someting to do with scandata.dat.
To jason what kind of wierd are we talking here? I've never have any problem while FF/RW my SVCD burnt with both Nero and VCDimager.

nero does not understand svcd. I do not understand why so many people are using it for SVCDs. easyVCD is the best for simple SVCDs.

  8. If you mean VCDEasy, I agree.

  9. tendtend: Well, there *is* a SuperVideoCD option on the Nero wizard, *and* you can drag'n'drop mpeg2 files into it which rather suggests that it does know something about SVCDs
However, it's not possible to edit/remove/replace the scandata.dat file in the EXT folder within the program.
I suspect that will be the key to this whole problem. Perhaps I should try VCDEasy.

zx80, yes, i know there **is** a SVCD option in nero, also I know nero has this option for a loooooooooong time, but the SVCD burned from nero has been junk since it has the SVCD option. Maybe it will burn junk SVCD forever.

VCDEasy (sorry for the mistake easyVCD) is the choice for simple SVCDs, though I am enjoying the fancy SVCDs created by VideoPack5 (9 subwindows in one window as 9 chapter buttons with preview, so a 30min SVCD can be reviewed in ~3min. With your favourite music as background, that's really cool).

  11. tendtend: I have had *some* success with nero in making svcds (my player even recognises it as specifically SVCD). I've had quality issues but that's more an mpeg/bitrate issue I presume.
VideoPack5 sounds cool, especially the menu stuff. I've wanted to have music on menu items for some time.
Does it make FF/RW SVCDs and would you recommend it?
