  1. I can capture a home video (VHS) to the PC in either AVI or MPEG2 format. The film is quite dark and I would like to use an editor that will let me use Colour/Brightness/Contrast etc. to edit it before I burn it to a DVD.

Any suggestions to such program please? I would prefer to edit the MPEG2 if possible.

  2. You can use TMPGEnc Express or the standard TMPGEnc to adjust the color/contrast/brightness then reencode.

I capture VHS using WINDVD Creator 2 with the Plextor ConvertX and that allows you to adjust the colors/contrast/brightness when you capture. There are probably better apps out there but this one came with the ConvertX.

Before you edit the film have you tried watching it on your dvd with a dvdrw?Watching on a computer monitor will give you much darker pictures than a tv screen at times.
