Although I have had great luck with my Philips recorder....they are known to be a pain in the ass when it comes to reliability.

Hi Dave, I have weird things like what you described happening with my own Philips 610. Now and then, it stops recording. Then it would go on again, erasing what it recorded one minute before. This drives me mad too. I will have it checked soon. Did you find a solution for your problem? I checked the Philips website in search of some useful support but found nothing helping.

  4. HI SYLVIE.
YES I CONTACTED PHILIPS DIRECTLY & THEY SAID THAT THIS PROBLEM IS RECTIFIED BY AN UPDATE AVAILABLE ON THEIR WEBSITE.I SAID THAT I WOULD RATHER HAVE A CD OF THE UPDATE & THEY SENT ME ONE WITH FULL INSTRUCTIONS.I INSTALLED IT & IT HAS CURED MY PROBLEM APART FROM OCCASIONALLY I TURN UP THE VOLUME WITH MY SAMSUNG TV REMOTE & THE DVD RECORDER SWITCHES ON,NOT EVERY TIME JUST VERY OCCASIONALLY.
    HOPE THAT HELPS YOU.

    DAVE.

Oh yes, it does help me, thanks a lot!
On the Philips site they speak of a download that would fix the problems but I couldn't find out where the so-called download was...?
Have you called them to have the CD? Or did you send them an email?

Hi Dave, thanks for your answer. I went back to the Philips site again and eventually downloaded an update in English, I don't know if it's the good one for my writer, as the writer is supposed to speak French like me

Plus the files I downloaded seem to be PC files and I have a Mac so I am not sure I can burn them on a CD that will be correctly readable by the DVD writer, and don't want to harm it trying to install the wrong update.

So... I will email them like you did, and see what they have to answer.
Thanks a lot for your help!
