  1. Im going to give my standalone recorded dvd a menu, and when i demux the dvd it says its too big!

the original dvd is 4.36GB and dvdlab says its 4.77GB with red color.. and another thing, the sound seems to be longer then the video all of a sudden, its like 20-30 seconds longer, how can that be?

DVDlab doesn't use "Real" Gigabytes they use the kind used on DVD where 1000bytes = 1KB so a DVD can hold 4.7GB using DVD labs standard.

Did you take into account the extra MB's DVD lab adds when authoring for menu's and creating DVD structure?

I would just shink the project in DVDShrink, but it seems your audio is out of sync also? Something that's never happened to me.

  3. thats the thing.. the sound is not out of sync, i just watched it

and, i havnt made any menus or anything yet, i just added the demuxed files and it says they are too big

but anyway.. if my original dvd is 4.36, i should be able to get a simple menu onto it.. ill just try and see how big it is when compiled

  4. ok.. my bad luck never seems to end!

i got it to fit, and authored the menus like i always do.. but, when i was done and was gonna burn it, i got an error message telling me something was wrong and the dvd might not be playable.. ok i tried anyway
now, when i play it, the menus work as they should, but when i choose a chapter (either from the menu or the "next button") the video starts from the begining again, even if its in the middle of the video.. anyone knows whats wrong??

How ? It helps others if you tell us how you fixed your problem, even if it seems embarrassing at the time.

  7. well, it wasnt actually me that authored the dvd on the standalone recorder, it was a friend of mine
but what i didnt know, was that he originaly authored it onto 2 dvdr's. and then joined them (dont know how)
so i managed to find the place the first part ended and the second one started.. and i just used tmpgenc dvd author to split them back to 2 dvdr.. then i just added the whole thing as 2 videos in dvdlab
