You can't just add the track to the DVD and guarantee it will be playable. That said, you can add pretty much anything you like to the disk, so long as you have space.

If you want it to be playable from the DVD menu, you will have to author it as a video track, even if the video is a simple photo or graphic (or even black). You could also just put the music as a background track to a menu.

Another option is to create an extra folder at the same level as the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders (e.g. Music) and drop the tracks in as MP3 data files. You can't play them on a DVD Player, but you can listen to them on a PC, copy them to an iPod etc.

    Or you could do both.

A final question - are trying to add this to an already authored DVD which you no longer have all the elements too, or are you adding this during the authoring process (which is almost complete) ? I am assuming it is the latter.

  3. Ok what I have done is take VHS tape and ripped it to DVD format using my all in wonder card. So now I want to make this DVD to include the DEMO cd of the band as well as this performance I ripped from VHS. So my final product would load up in the DVD player and show the main menu and on the menu menu there would be "play performance" and "play demo" buttons. When playing the performance I can select play all or each chapter. (I know how to do this with multiple programs) and when I select play demo i can also do the same. So on my DVD the performance would be track 1 with 6 chapters and the demo would be track 2 with 5 chapters and all being selectable from there corresponding menus. I know how to do this for your standard video DVD as I have done it many times. But not for this slightly more complex version.

I would create a simple menu page for each song. It can be blank, or have the name of the song or a photo etc. No buttons needed. Make the song the audio track for the menu, and make the menu as long as the song. Now link your main menu demo item 1 to this menu. When the song finishes, the menu should return from whence it was called. Do the same for each of the other songs.

    Or

Create a blank video with each of the songs on the sound track. Create a chapter stop for each song. If your authoring program supports it, create a play list for each chapter, and link your menu to the playlist for each song.
