Netflix just announced another huge quarterly loss. How do you think they will take care of this? The stockholders won't standby and let this continue indefinately or we will be reading press releases about the new management team at Netflix. Has anyone noticed a slowdown in delivery rate? This is one obvious way to reduce cost. No doubt this idea is going through their minds. Just in case, what is Blockbusters web site address?

  3. If you would read the press release it says business is NOT decreasing but advertising prices increased. Have you seen the prices for advertising???? They are through the ROOF.

Look pal, you sound like a Netflix shill. What position do you hold at Netflix? I don't care what kind of bigshot your are at Netflix, there is no escaping a bunch of major stock holders who are angry because the value of their stock is down. And you won't be able to lip off at them like you can to a forum member! Stockholders own stock for ONE reason; that is a return on their investment. If the officers of a corporation don't deliver that, they will be given an "opportunity" to find alternate career opportunities. The only way around it is to get your mother to buy ALL of the stock and then you won't have to worry - - - unless you have a mean mother!

I am not trying to be the loving spiritual counseler for Netflix. I am not attempting to do a cost analysis of the operation. What I said was that the stockholders won't tolerate a loss. That's a fact. I don't read a company's press release as the "Gospel of John"! Only a fool does that, and I'm not one. I asked if anyone has noticed a slow down in delivery. Actual observation out here in the real world is the ONLY way to determine this. It certainly is NOT the company's own press release!

  7. Im still considering going over to netflix. Our local blockbuster dropped the no late fee gig and is back to the late fees once again. The manager told me that its because people just arent returning the movies anymore. It sucks and it cought me and my wife off guard. The only way we found out was little
pieces of paper taped to the side of the shelves.
Besides there are alot of companies struggling right now .Thats the way the "The corparation of the usa" world works. Spelling sucks

I do not notice any slowing down. I am not worried whatever happens to them. I am not a stockholder. However, I will believe the press release only if it is about the change in management.

My delivery times have really slowed over the past couple of weeks. I mail the movies back at the same post office they pick them up at, the distribution center is in the same town but now I get them about 4-5 days later rather than the 1-2 days when I first joined 2 months ago.
And the condition of the discs is getting worse. My wife loves the Sound of Music, I've had to send 2 copies back in the past 10 days because they wouldn't play they were so scratched up. One came with little glops of something stuck all over it. So much for their "state of the art polishing machines".

  13. They have added a one day delay to half my shipments to cut their costs. I queried them on it and they confirmed. I don't really mind the increased cost to me as I still do fine and no one has their selection.
Still a few bugs in the system...

I've used Netflix for 1 1/2 yrs and I still get the same great service. Two days to the center, 90% same day turnaround, two days back to me. Every weekend I have 6 new movies to watch which works out to about 25 a month. I 'll stick with Netflix.

Yea netflix is about the best you can get right now I did however try movixo and their service is really crappy they are an adult movie service but real slow it takes almost 1 week to receive your movies and about 1 week for them to get em. Yet they claim they have 35,000 customers i think its aload of crap with a service that slow and a poor dvd avilabilty i doubt they have that many. It's really abvious this company can't supply on demand.

  20. No slow down here- but considering how many distribution points are needed for their service to deliver in timely manner, the overhead is probebly killing 'em. Automation to reduce payroll can be very expensive implementation.

After all, they ultimately depend on the US mail man, of which there is no control from their stand point.

  21. No slower here either...I send in Saturdays, they receive Monday and new ones are received Wednesday. Been solid for two years.

That's impossible. They've slowed down everyone's service. It's a fact. You must be working for Netflix? How much did they pay you to lie?!?

Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

A slow down in delivery rate is the least of my current problems with crapflix
The real answer lies in completely understanding the question!

  25. I noticed a dramatic slowdown last month, but it has picked up lately... Back to same day turn around. Hope it stays that way.

  26. Everybody knows that if you hold the discs for a few days the turnaround is quick (I'd guess 1 day there - 1 day back for most people). The corollary of that fact is that customers who consistently return their discs promptly will experience a slowdown in service to compensate for the increased postage expense.

I haven't used NetFlix yet. I'm currently using Intelliflix (dvdbarn.com) and Blockbuster. No complaints about either one. I usually return my movies on Monday morning. Thursday/Friday I'll have my new movies from Blockbuster and Friday/Saturday I'll have my movies from Intelliflix.
