  1. i want to put five.2 hour movies onto one dual layer dvd i will record the movies with the ILO in LP mode with an average bitrate of 3.4mbs..

the question is. is it possible to do it in good quality with little to no macroblocks??

the tools i will be using is tmpenc dvd author. and dvdshrink..

so that will be 10 hours of video on one dual layer dvd in LP mode so i assume i would have to compress it to about 70% compresssion correct??

what options in dvdshrink should i enable sharp and AEC or smooth and AEC??

and i know i will have to enable deep analysis..

do those options really improve the video quality or does it just take longer??

i know some pro's would know the answer to this i am new to using dvd shrink thats why i would like to have some insight on the program.

  2. yes it is. i managed to put all 3 lord of the rings movies onto a single layer dvdr with a video bitrate of 1150kb/s and audio bitrate at 128kb/s. i done this using tmpg and used custom templates

  3. If you need to record using the ILO first, I'd suggest recording in it's highest recording mode, or it's highest 352x480 resolution recording mode (which may be LP or a 3 hour mode if it has one), then run all 10 hours through TMPGEnc and re-encode at 352x480 (if it's not already at 352x480). You can get decent results if you lower the resolution to 352x480, but using full 720x480 resolution will give you crap with 10 hours of video on a DL disc. I would not use DVD Shrink as that much compression really needs re-encoding such as TMPGEnc or another MPEG Encoder, not transcoding as DVD Shrink does. I don't suggest using DVD Shrink for such a large amount of compression but if you do use it, use Deep Analysis and AEC at 'max smooth'.
