    Hi,

I realize that this has already been talked about in other topics but I am at a loss. I discovered an .avi on a cd I was given awhile ago. WHen I convert it to a DVD format (VOB), I get audio sync problems. Here is what I have done so far with no luck:

First, VirtualDub says it has an improper VBR encoding. So, I did what it said. I extracted the audio as a wav. I , then, reencoded it with CBR values - no luck.

I have used the Timewarp function in Goldwave with no luck. I have used the formula that someone posted in order to resample. That only caused it to be out of sync in the beginning, quickly come into sync for 5 seconds and then go out of sync the other way.

I have tried also making the audio AC3, still no luck.

The wierd thing is this. There are two avi files on the cd. Both are given the improper VBR encoding warning in VirtualDub. But, one file will convert with no audio sync problems. The other will not.

Is there any other ways to resync audio or change vbr to cbr. Somebody mentioned SoundForge. Is this better at this kind of stuff??? Please help and I apologize for starting another thread on this topic.

how do you convert the video?
have you checked so the avi is in sync?

mp3 vbr does not matter, after you convert to wav it should be okey.

and this is not dvd authoring. moving you.

In what way does the audio go out of sync, if you just decode to wav?
Is it out of sync when you play the DVD or is the mpg out of sync before authoring?
