okay, this was my big idea to get perfect chapters for events i recorded to dvd that sometimes required chapters to be inserted at very precise locations.
1) record event to dvd-rw with standalone dvd recorder, pioneer 220s
2) extract to mpeg (mpeg2/ac3), tmpgenc mpeg editor
3) cut large mpeg in to many segments, womble mpeg-vcr
4) use mpeg segments in tmpgenc dvd author (it sets a chapter for each segment automatically) & output to dvd files
5) use imgtool classic to make an iso out of dvd files
6) burn iso with dvd decrypter
everything appeared to be going swimmingly, i mounted the iso with daemon tools and played it back with powerdvd.. perfect.
so then i tried playing back the dvd-r in various dvd players, there was always a pause each time it encounted a chapter.. varying from 1/2 a second to 1/10th of a second, depending on the dvd player.. but the pause was noticable.
now i could use the large mpeg and set my chapters with TDA, but its isnt nearly as precise as cutting them mpeg in to segments (you can only insert chapters at I-frames), but there is no slight delay..
am i doomed to be stuck with imperfect chapters?

Note: I haven't tried this but it should work.
Now that you have all your edited clips join them all together with Software that won't do encoding so that all you clips can then be selected in DVD Author as chapters and the delays should be gone.
I noticed myself that using separate clips cause a delay in DVD Author.
I believe Videoredo joins with no encoding. I'm guessing that Mpeg-vcr can also do it, I just don't use it.
Good Luck
