  1. To record DVD -RW does the blank media have to specify -RW on the package or can you use +RW?

    If you have a dvd writer or recorder that can only burn -RW you must get -RW, it wont work with +RW.

  3. I bought the Sony RDR-VX500 which is RW+-. So could I use +RW packaged blank DVDs to record as -RW?

    What do you mean by "as -RW"? Why not just burn as +RW?

  5. My understanding is that -RW will let you make multiple recordings without reformating and erasing other recordings where +RW reformats each time, therefore erasing any previous recordings on the DVD.

  6. Easy answer no. If you want -RW disks you have to buy -RW disks. they are different and not interchangable. It is the design of the disk that makes it what it is, not how it is used.
