About Nero Digital

I think that there was a topic about a similar discussion, but I'm not able to find it! I'm sorry moderators...
However the new Nero Digital from Ahead (ehmm I'm not paied by them, but I often use the Ahead programs because thy are simples and powerfuls), it's becoming more popular thanks to the largest number of DVD players that support MP4 container, and I'm going to buy one of them.
Anyway what is your opinion about Nero Digital? And what problem there are with it for you?

I love Nero Digital and I think its the best form of Mpeg4. If your going to buy a Mpeg4 player make sure it has the Nero Digital logo on it, if not chances are it wont play Nero Digital.

BTW no problems yet.

I've been a fan of Nero Digital as well. SInmy Phillips 642 won't play this format ( plays just about anything else ) can anyone give an opinion of a good DVD player that can handle the Nero Dig MP4 format? Preferably a make and model you all have tested, own and or used. That would help us tremendously.

I did a google search and came up with APEX players in 2005 being able to play Nero Dig. No actual models out yet though.

Too bad! but they will sell soon, I think. However there is also this news http://www.nerodigital.com/eng/PR_2005_03_11.html, these players are Nero Digital certified, and soon others will follow them. Anyway if a player can read MP4 with AAC, it should be able to read Nero digital, but I will wait for the certified ones.

i would build a htpc....too many new formats out there...

My recommendation also, because:

1) This way you can try zillions of different formats (there's a new one every week!) and hopefully can upgrade software pretty easily.
2) It's fun to build more computers!

Also seriously I'm taking a small plunge and building a little htpc out of various scraps (somebody was throwing out an "obsolete" nvidia geforce 2mx video card w/s-video out so I snagged that immediately and thought, "hey, there's that P3-500 in the basement I could get back up ..."), and I started playing with Nero's MP4 format on a lark, didn't expect much, and -- WOW! I sqeezed a 3 gig mpeg2 movie down to 600mb and the quality is actually not that bad at all, especially on a TV screen.

I have a queston! When you resize the video with Nero Recode 2 do you use square pixels or not? Nero reccomends to use them, but when you play the video on a DVD player the aspect ratio will be correct (the same is also for AVI with DivX-Xvid, I think)?
