  1. I have a Philips maganvox 825DVD player. No matter which options I use when I burn a vcd or svcd I get no sound when trying to play it on my dvd player. It plays fine on my computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the latest firmware too.

  3. have you tried both audio outputs alalog and digital ? my magnovox 841 will only play svcd's (audio) throught the analog outputs. vcd's play fine either way.

I have 2 philips dvd-players, and they do very well play vcd-sound thorugh digital out. The only drawback is, that the stream is MPEG-encoded, and most surround-amplifiers do not decode mpeg-audio, only PCM, AC3 and DTS. So use the analog out for any vcd-sound or reconfigure (not recommended) the digital out to "pcm only". it's poor that you cannot choose the output format for the major stream types separately. This is a flaw of most dvd-players.

  5. It does play sound on my computer, and in a friends dvd player other vcd's I've tried to make play fine. I tried both the digital and analog outputs, but I'll try the analog again to make sure.

I noticed that when I pushed the audio button on the dvd remote with one svcd it had audio 0 in the little box that came up, and another audio 1 (2 diff svcd's), but no sound.

Did you split the file with mpeg tools in tmpgenc? If you don't specify splitting it into a vcd when using the mpeg tools, mpeg system is the default, and it won't play audio properly on the 825.
