Hello all!
I sure hope someone out there can help me.
I purchased DVDXCOPY Platinum.
I have found that the dvds copied have playback problems.
Now, I have 3 dvd players.
A Panasonic, a Toshiba and an APXEX (which is only a portable mini player).
The Panasonic will only recognize the discs copies up to the menu.
Then it freezes, moves a frame or two, skips a frame, freezes up, so on.
The Toshiba will play the discs for a few minutes, then start with some pixilation, then freeze...skip....lock up. I have to press stop then FF to get it to move again. This will continue for the movie.
The APEX portable seems to have very little problems reading the discs.
Is there a solution or a way around this?
Is there a BETTER ripping/duplicating software out there?
I have a SONY DRU-701A burner, brand new. The dvd players are 1 year old. THe discs I use are both -R and +R and all have the same issues.
TDK, Maxell ...I've tried different brands of blank media.
I have copied in simple and advanced, and still the same issues.
I have spoken to friends who have the exact same problem so I know this is not an isolated thing.
Anyone...can you help or give me suggestions?
Thanks a million!

First, there is no guarantee that any disk you burn will play in all players. The technology just isnt that good.
Second, the best software is free in this instance. Use DVD Decrypter to rip the disk to your HDD, and DVD Shrink to transcode the disk to fit on a single layer disk. You can also use Shrink to reconfigure the disk (reauthor) to have just the main movie or other features to save space. You can then call DVD Decrypter from within Shrink to burn the results. Decryper has a very good burn engine. All these will cost you is download time.
Third, none of this matters if the media is crap. Find good media and stick to it. I use Ritek G04's without any problems, others don't have the same success and recommend TY disks, which I don't like. The main factors are - quality, compatability with your burner, compatability with your player(s). Get DVD Info Pro to get the media ID's of your media, then look them up in the database here to see how people are fairing with them. Look up your plares and see what sort of media people are having success with.
There are other tools that you can look at later that give you more flexibility, or better quality (although Shrink with AEC is pretty good), but these are for later, once you have this under control.Read my blog here.
