I have tried many programs which won't let me add additional data on the same disc with multisession. I dont have any problems adding additional data with CD-R's, but with DVD-R's i just can't add multisession no matter what program i use. Does this have anything to do with my DVD-RW driver or firmware? I have the Pioneer A05.

    here's a popup from Nero.

    DON'T

    from the ROXIO WEBSITE
You cannot burn a multi-session DVD using Toast Titanium. Currently, there is no supported multi-
    session standard for DVD recording.

    You can do that DLA
    Drive Letter Access thing
and keep adding files without finalizing..
But this disc you may may not play on systems that don't have the same DLA program installed, SO I just crack anew one for archival purposes..

I tried it about a year ago as an experiment. I found that the only way to access the data in the second session was with ISOBuster if the disk was in the drive that burnt it its not worth the hassle.

The disk has to be closed out in order to play!

I was curious to see if it could be done (data only). I burned the first session and left the disc open. For the second session I got the warning, clicked burn anyway, finalized the disc and it DID Burn. The problem lies in reading the additional sessions. I tried the disc in other DVD ROMs and writers incl. the one that burnt it but only the first session was found and displayed.

    The Question should really be;
"Why can't additional sessions on a DVD-R be READ"?

EDIT: I don't know the answer to that one though.

You need to scroll up there is no multi-session standard for DVD's yet. That is why the extra sessions are somewhat unreadable. I don't know if you remember but when CD-ROM's first hit the market this problem occurred as well. Some systems could read multi session cd's and some couldn't but over the years as the technology progressed this problem disappeared.
The real answer lies in completely understanding the question!

  13. Then why does Nero have the option to burn multisessions to DVD?

  14. Because you can burn multisession DVD+r's. Buy some +r DVD's and try it, it works. DVD=r's do not work for multisession.

  15. Win9x/Me PC's cannot read or write multi-session DVD's.I burn multi-session DVD+R's for data(<4GB*) and have no problem reading them on any XP/2000 PC's,I guess that's another reason to use +R.
Multi-session will NOT work with DVD-VIDEO as was mentioned it must be only one session and finalized.
