Hey all,
When making VCD, using TMPGEnc and the VideoCD (NTSC).mcf template; I'm only able to fit around 60min. on a otherwise 74min. CD.
...what am I doing wrong here ?!?

It has nothing to d with minutes, thats only if you're making a Audio CD. With VCD's its with filesize so make sure your mpeg isn't bigger than 740mbs otherwise if it is, you'll have to cut it.
I only dream in black & white...

Dhruv,
hmmm, I thought the true VCD was a standard; that would fit a fixed amount of video/audio on a certain size CD ?!
...of course if you just wanna make MPEG1, using VBR and make it fit on 1CD - that is a different story !?

hrm...standard VCD 2.0 resolution and bitrate should allow 74 min of movie on 74 min CD-R...i believe..

John,
Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, but are you actually authoring the CD-R as a VCD?
If you are simply copying the mpeg-file to a data-CD, it won't work, because VCDs need to be formatted differently in order to allow longer playing times. In your CD-writing application, choose the VCD template, or use a dedicated program such as VCDEasy for authoring and burning. -
Freshman, heh..nice one..forgot about that one..
burning in mode 2x/a (VCD/SVCD template in nero) adds about 100 MB to your CD-R's capacity...
wonder if this can be done for those 99 min CD-Rs..hrm. -

It's time with VCD spec, just like with audio CD's. If your doing non-spec though it is size. -
Hey guys,
Think I found the answer in another post here. Seems like I'm using the wrong software for making my VCDs, and that is really the problem. I have been using EZCD5 and understands that even though you choose Video CD Creator, the damn program still focus on the file size instead of the movie lenght
...so what burning program is recommended to use instead ?
