Recently I've noticed that my burns are taking approxiamtley twice as long as predicted by Nero - dosen't matter if it is a +R or +RW or brand (Memorex, Ritek)
Is this an indication that the laser is dying?
I have not noticed any playback issues with the disks.
Thanks

I think nero only provides an estimated time. My burns are also longer than nero times.

A 4X burn, predicted by Nero at 14 minutes (actually 16 w/lead-out, etc) is now taking about 30 minutes.
A 2.4X burn (+RW) that used to take approx. 32 minutes, now takes about 55 minutes. -
Yeah, something is wrong... Drive in PIO mode possibly? Search the forums for how to enable DMA mode for your drive.

What does your buffer look like during burning. If your used read buffer drops dramatically that will cause your drive to slow down to avoid coasters.
The real answer lies in completely understanding the question!
