Ok, my first post here. Hope this goes well...

I'm looking for a way to select a couple of sequences from a regular DVD-Video and to make a backup of just them on a custom DVD-R.

    Let's say it's a movie with a running time of 2 hours and I want to pick out a 30-second sequence at 56:12 - 56:42, and a 20-second one at 1:45:09 - 1:45:29.

Then I want to be able to take the two ripped sequences and place them as two separate titles (or two chapters in one title, that doesn't really matter) on a new DVD-Video that I author myself. Preferarbly I don't want to downgrade in bitrate (image quality).

How can I do this, and what software do I need?
I already have access to Adobe Encore DVD 1.5 which I can use for the authoring.

DVD Shrink in reauthor mode. You might have to drag the same title over twice to select two different sections. Simply right-click on the title, then select start/end frames the menu and set your points. It will create new DVD structures with just these bits in them. You will then have to demux these before loading into encore and crashing a lot.

You could also look at vobblanker as an option (same idea, different tool) and probably others. In short - not hard, many ways to do it.

OK, the reauthor mode in DVDShrink worked great, but I'm not sure how the demuxing works.
I tried it with one clip first, but clicking "Demux complete title set" in Vobedit and then pressing OK did nothing. Literally, nothing happened after I pressed OK, it just went back to the main window of the program.
So I tried checking all the "demux multiple streams at once"-boxes and then it demuxed the title.
So then I started Encore and made a simple project, and I imported the separate video and audio streams to the project, but then the audio is gone in the final authored DVD. How do I get the audio to work?
