Vobsub and ffdshow

Vobsub won't uninstall properly and still shows the green arrow on my tray whenever I run subs, and I don't know how to disable it. I installed ffdshow (and checked off subs in its conig screen) because I need it to run my subs instead, so I can encode subs with TMPGEnc Plus. But Vobsub simply won't go away ! How can I kill vobsub and make sure ffdshow works for showing subs (the last thing I want is to accidentally disable vobsub and then find ffdshow still won't display my subs) ? Please help.
