Hi, I was just wondering if I had a normal vcd and encoded it into a (s)vcd would it be better quality if I wanted to play it on my tv or would it be the same.

Sorry mate I don't think you will gain anything by re-encoding to SVCD from a VCD. The problem is that you only have VCD resoltion at VCD CBR, to then go to a higher res and VBR won't help when you still have the lower res and lower bit rate. Remember "Gabage in - Garbage out".
