  1. Does anyone know for sure if the LVW-5045/5005 sold in the USA will record from a PAL source besides NTSC ???? I know the Tuner is NTSC only, but I am not sure about the composite connectors if they can accept video from a PAL source ?????

I called today Liteon about this issue but unfornately they couldn't give me an answer!!! I looked at so many other sites on the Internet and got conflicting info. For example, when you look at LVW-5045 on newegg.com it would say that this unit has SCART connectors. However, when you look at the pictures they provide for that unit, it shows only US connectors like S-video and composites and components. SCART connectors are more common in Europe. Therefore, if you see a SCART connector on any DVD recorder then you would know for sure that it can record from PAL video source. Otherwise, you have to guess or ask around as to whether it will record from PAL source!!!

My understanding of the unit is that if you change the unit to PAL mode it will record in PAL because mine supposely has a chipset modifcation. Now the problem is that I only have a NTSC tv so I wont be able to test it. I am waiting for a DVD my cousin is making from Australia to see if it will play back on my unit as it was spec'ed to do.

Based on my old reading from some users answer should be yes. This recorder should record in PAL from PAL source.
