After reading this topic and the JLW CIS review, I'm more than slightly confused.
What cis would anyone recommend for someone starting out in all of this?RobertUSM

After 6 months of use I can recommend the system I have, which is in use in a Epson r300. The system was purchased from a seller on ebay trading under the name 'Toppy-Jess'. The same system is available here :-
http://cgi.ebay.com/Epson-R200-R300-R320-Bulk-Continuous-Ink-System-CIS_W0QQitemZ68100...QQcmdZViewItem
My previous system was the one from JLW. But had the usual problems with the carts supplied with the original system.
Check my previous posts to see what my experience with CIS systems has been.
If you have any problems, post them here, you will soon get an answer from the helpfull guys. -
I've been using this system on an R300 and an R200 since February with absolutely NO problems. Prints are very close to original Epson and look great.

Robert,
If you weren't confused, I would wonder what's wrong with you. The fact of the matter is that many months ago so many people made the blind leap towards CIS and these systems got tremendous reviews. However, over time, many of these same people (including myself) have seen their once prized CIS fail them. Many of us would never go back to a CIS because of a variety of issues. If I were to keep my Epson R200, I would go to refillable cartridges. Read page 22 or 23 on a discussion about this. However, what I did instead was invested $85 for the printer (including shipping) and $26 for the cd/dvd tray (including shipping) and bought a Canon Pixma 4000. I did the mod (easy as pie) and it prints SO MUCH better than the Epson! So much easier, no problems with ejecting the disc, etc. Overall, just a much better printer. However, back to your original question... I would seriously take a long hard look at refillable cartridges before you plunk down your money on a CIS. There just isn't one CIS that is the best - they ALL have had their issues. -
Robert i dont think there is a best what works for some may not work for others. My print on a dime cis wroks fine for me. I had the Jwlsales one but prefer the one i mentioned. nickelzy can you give me more detail on the pixma mod ill pm you
-
Heck.....I wonder what I'll do???? Where am I....Oh!at work! Man....I wanted to goto expansysusa for the Canon Pixma but I saw a newer model that's cd/dvd capable...I think it's the Pixma 4600 and the Canon rep. stated they have no intentions of releasing a US cd/dvd printing model....I might get a Canon because the're refill friendly and have replacable printheads
Is what we learn indeed a fact, or someones opinon? -
Not that I would recommend it because of other people having bad experiences with the system, but I bought my JLW Saless system back in january and only once has it ever missed a nozzle check. There is a "new improved" version out but mine is still going good with no problem whatsoever.
The only maintenance/mod I have done to it is attach the tubing on top, add the waist bottle, and refill the ink.
That being said, I don't know what I would go for if it died on me. I guess, spending alot of money on any system doesn't seem to make much sense since people are having good results with moderately priced kits.
Best of luck!Fast, Cheap, Good: Choose any two. -
Heck why can't we all just get along?
Everyone should just stop bashing each other already. Basically if it works for you then great, if it doesn't, then quit and switch, but I think more people are happy with their cis systems, than those that are not. This is a forum to find the best Cis system, not to knock them down a notch. I appreciate the references to the refill kits, which I may switch to if my cis ever breaks down, but to be honest with you, I love my cis so far (well except for the color problem, but I feel that's a ink problem). I have had almost no problems that weren't fixable (thanks micro). Overall I would still reccomend this system to my friends, because overall, the amount of money I've spent on my cis system is the same as if I would have gone out and bought all 6 new cartridges. So come on people, let's stop bashing each other and keep up the great reccomendations that was being posted by all in the first 10 pages or so. Some questions I have are, 1)some of you mention this pixma printer (I am not spending money on a new printer until I have to, but would like the option) but where can you buy it? 2)Which ink would you people reccomend to use with the cis or refill systems? I am totally against stratitec ink..maybe it's just me, I know some of you here said that it was great, but I've been having problems with mine...so where's a good place to purchase ink at a reasonable price?
Peace out!!!! -
I reread the last couple of posts. I must be missing something... Who's bashing who? Was a reply erased?
Fast, Cheap, Good: Choose any two. -
Habs01, I was thinking the exact same thing.. where's the bashing? This is a thread about CIS systems, however, after 24 pages worth of posts, the discussion does tend to shift a bit from time to time. Just chill a bit, take it all in, and relax. None of us are bashing each other - just exchanging info, opinions, suggestions, and ideas.
-
Well, that's exact what I want to do too. Dont smash each other and dont smash any good product. I believe any of them does have its own advantage - price, durable ...etc.
I use refill carts, mediastreet cis, jlw cis, InkRepublic cis. they both performace good job.
So far the most durable and the best CIS system is from http://www.InkRepublic.com
I am using InkRepublic's system now, will keep posting here too.
p.s. check the reviews too, this page has several prof. reviews:

Sandralink,
I'm just curious as how you have come to the conclusion that the CIS system you list is the most durable and best. Have you tried all of the others?I've followed this thread from it's birth and it seems that if you own a CIS system long enough, there tends to be issues with all of them. The first set of reviews, keep in mind, is from inkrepublic's own website (a little biased, huh?).
I don't mean to be overly challenging of your post, because you may very well be right. However, I'm just looking for a little more evidence and understanding as to why the IR system is the best. -
@sandralink
Looking at the other thread, it seem's that you have been using the IR system for just over a week. How can you possibly state that it is the most durable & best ?
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=281782
Problems seem to start with most systems after a couple of months. -
@bidefordboy,
what I was trying to say is InkRepublic's system is more durable because they have pretty good reviews, and most of their customer have been using it for a long time. That's what I meant.
I got this system a week ago and installed it, so far, it keeps doing good job.
I will keep posting and make sure it's the "BEST" CIS system. (I will not jump into conclusion that soon.) -

I had my CIS for about 6 months - great while it worked, and then it started giving me problems. At any rate, I hope you have better success and that inkrepublic works for you! -
@nickelzy,
AGREE!
I was using jlw cis, and was quite happy for the first few months, after that, it's totally dead. I bought another one with even worse luck. and they never response me, ever. what a customer service....
Then I switched to InkRepublic's system a week ago, the one I am using is not R200 but R800 CIS:

Anyway, time will speak by itself which one is the BEST CIS.

RETURN MY MONEY IMMEDIATELY OR YOUR BUSINESS WILL BE IMPACTED !
Here is a list of the feedback you have recieved for this item. Note that I was able to pull up "all" the feedback and not just what you are telling your users (98% positive, what a bunch of hooey). I did this using a plug-in for Firefox called "eBay negs". If I do not recieve a refund, here is what will happen.
Not only will I be collaborating with the folks on the most current feedback list above, and in this forum but I will be utilizing them in an attempt to get you completely removed from ebay via Safe Harbor ! Furthermore, utilizing utilites like the "eBay negs" thing, an email extractor, and Outlook; I WILL ALSO ENGAGE IN SLANDER in an attempt to stop you if eBay will not. I have a utility that will send me a list of everyone who has just "commited to buy" and my Outlook software will automatically send a computer generated eMail to those in that list with similar information what is written here. I will be telling those users to buy at their own peril, and providing a bid retraction link for their convenience. You will be unlikely to be paid for many of your auctions after this occurs. The fact that this will be set up as opposed to manually executed which means that as soon as someone "commits to buy", they will be notified!
Rest assured that I do not want to be that ugly! ...but I will if you do not make this right, and right now!
I want a RESPONSE and an agreement to return ALL of my money regardless of the condition of the return items! Please list for me the EXACT dollar ammount which you are agreeing to return to me!
You should have to replace my printer that your system may have ruined!
At this stage all I am asking for is a COMPLETE REFUND OF EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER PAID YOU REGARDLESS OF CONDITION OF RETURNED SYSTEM!
HONESTLY... I AM TRYING TO BE NICE AND WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE TO USE THE RESOURCES I LINKED TO ABOVE!
PLEASE REFUND COMPLETELY.

Dear Sir,
We are 100% want to refund your product., the 272.00 entirety, as soon as you send the product back to us and we received it.
This is a confirmation as soon as we received the product, we will issue you the $ 272.00 refund. Reason we ask for the product back is there is some people on the e-bay keep our product to use after we refund time. That’s not fair to us. Again, so all refund required the product send back to us.
As you can see we keep helping out and support our product, it’s how we earn so many good feedbacks doing business in ebay. We had no reason risking our reputation for just $ 272.00
Even it’s the refund process; we still want to keep a good relationship with customer. The reason I ask how many ink left is I am also thinking if it’s also sensible way to send you another newsystem.
Thanks
JLW
PS... JLWSales is now doing business under another name 'shopping-freedom' on eBay. As far as I know, that is prohibited so one might be able to use that angle in getting a refund. His name is Shun Lan Lau. I wish I could list his phone number here but I am not willing to go that far yet. Besides, I called that number and the man can't speak very good english at all as you can clearly see by the email he sent.car audio woes -
I am buying some refillable spongeless cartridges that are already full of ink. I want to know where I can get some fancy refill syringes similar to those I saw on eBay but are no longer there. They looked pretty cool except they were small. The easy squeeze bottles came with the syringe already on them. They actually instructed you to bend the syringe slightly so that it could be inserted without spilling ink. This was a nifty design with absolutely no mess! Does anyone know of a source for these types of bottles?

trpenner, if the cartridges are spongeless, they probably will use a vacuum type syringe. You will not need needles.

Is there a suggestion by a "user" instead of a seller regarding what cartridges I should buy?

I’ve been following this forum since Feb of 2005 and decided to make my first post. First off I would like to say a big thank you to all the individuals who have been posting to this forum for some time now. If it weren’t for you and this forum I’d be making Epson a richer company than it really needs to be. I purchased the toppy-jess CIS for an R200 back in late Feb 2005 and have been running it since then. I had a few bumps on the road the first few weeks of running it but everything is going good now (knocking or wood at the same time). I use the ink from mediastreet.com and think my pictures print out fine. I’m sure they can use some fine tuning but I am not all that picky. The printer is mainly used by my girlfriend for school work
and printing a few pics. Again I would like to thank all the members who have been posting on here for awhile and getting me up too speed on printing cheaper.
-
I am still using 'sponge' type refillable (autoreset chip) carts, they work great!
no hoses flopping and such
Just find the best price and buy them!If you want a printing headache, use CIS on your printer! -
Trpenner,
Thank you for your tip. But I have no time to deal with such low-end vender (JLWsales or shopping-freedom) whatsoever. The more time I spend, the less patient I will have. I am second tired of it.
Like what I said before, you get what I pay for. JLW sells cheap system, obviously, it's quality is cheap too. It's been approved by so many people here. Not that many people have luck on their system. (in terms of durable and quality)
Again, I dont blame on any vendor, but like everybody here want to find the BEST CIS. I want to find a good one too. Because CIS can save me A LOT of $$$$$.
I am using InkRepublic.com R800 CIS now. It's a good system. I mean, VERY GOOD one. The ink flow rate/control, tubing and setup are all way better than any others that I had used before.
After all, it's a good investment so far.
BTW, InkRepublic.com is running promotion now,
15% off -
