Oops! -- must be that wireless keyboard (couldn't be me, could it?...)

If you feel like I did, you really have my sympathy -- was sure I was dying, now I'm afraid perhaps I mightn't.

I'm still researching the Canon Era....I've only heard good reports on the printers and I used to own one...Never had a problem...as a matter of a fact I've heard that the carts are easy to mod to refillables and I know for fact that the printhead can be replaced without tools. It simply pops out of the carraige. And CIS Is avalible for them as well. The U.S. models ave DVD printing disabled but it can be enabled VIA the buttons on the main unit plus the European (DVD printing model)can be bought from http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=CAN_PIXMA_IP3000

    Any advice?

    @jakol

The syringes don't come with the cart's, & he does'nt have any listed on his site. Send him a email (his name is Gerry), because I know he purchased some a while ago (check his feedback) & I'm sure he could supply them.
Here are some I found on a UK site :-

Do a search on Ebay, I'm sure you will find others.

  10. thanks again bidefordboy,
you mean you can just use regular syringe? if its the case i have no problem then got lots of syringes at work , I did a lot of search on ebay they uses different kind of syringe for their carts, its usually designed to create vaccum inside the cart while refilling.

    thanks again.

No difference in body for syringes....only the neddle. Blunt neddles for refilling(No Sharps) Use the refill neddle on any syringe...even the ones hospitals use.

Been reading the comments on this form for some time. seems like a lot of the trouble with the cartridges has to do with the "O" ring seal.
Has anyone tried to retrofit a cartridge by replacing the bad "O" ring with the "O" ring from a old OEM Epson cartridge that has the ink used up???

    alfredr200.

I think your talking about the original carts supplied with the JLW system. I don't think anyone is going to bother to try & repair them. The price of better quality replacement carts is so low (see links above), that it's not worth the risk.

And to add to Bidefordboy's statement the "O" rings on the JLW carts have nipples that "Seal the cartsbut OEM "O" rings have no nipples...Instead it has Mechanical valves that seal the carts and the "O" rings are for further support.

I've tried the one from Costco. I don't know what they sell in the states but here it's IMS ink. It works fine with my JLW Sales CIS system. For what it's worth, the box states that the ink is compatible with the Epson R200. But it's also compatible with just about every printer known to mankind. It's universal ink. I know some folks don't recommend universal ink and will tell you that you should buy only ink specially formulated for your specific printer. It's probably true. But here's my question: How do you know that the vendor is really selling you ink "specially formulated" for your printer and do you want to pay a premium for that? I guess it depends on what your needs are too. If you do professional prints, then you probably know a reputable supplier that you are willing to pay more for.

As for me, I figure the Universal ink at Costco is cheap and probably decent quality given that they have been selling it for a couple of years now and they would of had a s**t load of complaints if it wasn't working with the stated compatible printers.

Anyways, if you search the subject in forums you will probably find alot more on the subject.

personally I think the "Hype" about Ink is S**t in itself. I've used a variety of inks and even the "Archive Quality" ink looks the same as Stratitec ink. The only ink I've noticed a difference, and I mean a Real difference is OEM ink. For example: I have a HP 1210 all in one...The carts cost $50 for both...4 color printer...The printout of a DVD case label looks remarkable...Can't tell that it's printed on regular paper to the point it looks like it was printed on glossy photo paper and it has a noticable shine. The carts are easily refilled and reset using child-proof technique. However, once the carts are refilled and printing perfect nozzle checks you'll see no gloss and it looks like an old Canon BJC 6000 printed it ( A printer thats over 10 years old). Even the Epson OEM ink looks better than any ink I've ever put in my CIS...although the quality remains...for a person that remembers what OEM printouts look like, you'll ignore the fact that OEM ink looks better but still remember the fact.

  18. I had to scan a pic of my new boy!
I used jwl ink in my refillable carts, image is scanned at 1200dpi and it does no justice to the quality. printed at best photo, on glossy photo paper (settings). On the cheapest photo glossy paper. The scan does it no justice, the pic looks like a film camera.

Mostly I'm inclined to agree with that -- so long as the ink is of more-or-less the right viscosity, properly filtered, and contains nothing that will injure the printer mechanism, it's unlikely to cause you any more problems than the OEM ink.

As to colour, like beauty it's mainly in the eye of the beholder and I've found the differences between inks in colour photo prints are generally less than those between commercial reprints from a different lab (indeed sometimes even the same one gets them wrong.)

I just compared three copies of the same photo produced with three different inks (same paper, printer and settings, but printed some time apart), one with the JLWSales ink, one with OEM and one I just pulled off with the ink supplied with the InkJetsUSA CIS I'm now using.

The only significant difference is the JLWSales ink, which is noticeably lighter and hasless contrast than the other two, but viewed on its own you'd never notice.

The OEM and the "US made Epson compatible" inks are so close I can't tell them apart.

As to the "one size fits all" universal inks, I'm not so sure -- the difference in the delivery system between pressure (Epson) and boil-off (steam driven -- Canon, HP etc.) has me wondering what residues they may leave behind in the boiling off process (look inside any domestic kettle or electric jug that's been in use for a while and you'll see what I mean.)

They probably work fine in Epsons, where the ink is delivered cold, but unless formulated specially for the others...?

PoolEnglish: Healthy looking specimen -- Congratulations!

Thanks Idle, Nicely stated and it's something to consider. I'm considering purchasing a Primera duplicating robot/w DVD printer built in....It's cute and will save me a lot of time and effort since my work day is the equivalent of two jobs(almost 8 hours commute)...I like the money I make with "Clientel" even if I make more than enough on my Job. I'm GREEDY I guess. Anyway I was gonna get a European Canon Pixma IP4000 but taking into consideration your post and the trouble I currently have changing DVD's in the print tray I'm not so sure of what to do. Epson is the highest quality printer at the lowest cost and I'm not too thrilled about shelling out $1800 for a machine unless it's gonna last a long time....I have to do research on the Primera Bravo II

I'm too proud to admit this......Please don't make me say it! Poolenglish....(Sniff) Your right!....No CIS is best...Refillable carts are the best and the ones you have are the best refillables I've seen. I would say for a person that prints DVD's as much as I do(approx. 400 a month)Cis would be ideal. However, Maintaining tanks and pressure is for the birds. The sponges are a possible threat but we're still waiting for "Poolenglish " to tell us that the sponges burnt his printhead out....AS IF! The fact that the sponges may prevent air from entering the printhead may also provide better results but I'm considering a machine that'll do all the work and I mean all. Primera Bravopro....100 disc batch duplicator...burns and prints any files you select. So I can sleep after work and wake up to a finished product. If I buy it I'm gonna miss this forum because I'll be outta place here. I'll Be Back! T100

Look's like you guy's have had enough of the problem's that can happen with a CIS. As for myself, I am 100% happy with mine. If the JLW system had been fitted with better carts I would probably still be using that. Since Mac had the original idea about removing the suction pipe, this has solved the problem with the auto reset chips. Just reconnect when you need to do a head clean. So far I have not had to, the nozzle checks have been fine.
Great to hear that you are happy with your refillable's.

Wazzup, Pool? Looks like your gonna have a real heart-breaker on your hands, Congrats Dude!

Bidefordboy, My unit prints O.K. still but the nozzle checks give an impression that there's something brewing(two lines appear to be connected instead of jagged) The prints look perfect though. I need a duplicator because this buisness for me is too time consuming. I cannot work(very good job), commute, and run this business....I'm considering letting my girl run it for me but she's AFRAID of computers and if she wipes my 400gb drive or scratch my master discs.....????? OH! Please let me not even go there! The robot is ideal but I don't think the carts can be modded and "Nickelzy" PM me a while ago that the carts are simular to lexmark's carts and after 3-4 refills they need be tossed. I'm still researching the possibilities.

As for the possible rouge clog in my printer: I'm looking at finding replacement waste-pads, Gonna connect a new waste-pad black hose(I've had it for a while) and I'm gonna buy refillable spongeless carts with head flush fluid(From Gerry)...run head cleanings until all ink is gone and let it sit for a few days. I have the money but not the time or effort? Guess?

I certainly will tell all of you when I have problems. I went with the jwl 5-7 months, when problems arose so i dumped it. The refillables are worry free, i wish i would have had them in the first place. About 2 months now i guess and never a problem.

I am glad that I found this forum (googled)...I bought the printer and ran out of ink the first day!, and I have never bought an epson refill, thank god!

After all is said and done, I would have gone with refillable carts in the first place.

As for ads for non "sponge" type of carts i believe this is an unfounded claim ... that they are bad.
Actually the "sponge" is not a sponge at all, it is man-made foam. A sponge being a natural sea animal.
Epson and Cannon were the first printers designed without foam in the carts (a new thing), and many other printer brands still use foam in the carts. i/e lexmark, and HP.

I definitely will post problems if I have them with the refillables: just as I did with the jwl cis.

I printed about 70 pics of my newborn boy and only had to refill (top-off) once, at best photo setting!
I have refilled (topped off at 50% and never ran empty) 3 times and printed about 80+ cd's and 70 pictures. The printer was also idle for about a week and no problems.

This is the best $100 printer, and I thank all of you for your advice.

I hope I can be of some help, to someone else... as you have ALL been to me.

END OF MY LONG BOOK POST ; LOL

Now Poolenglish...You know better than to have posted that in here! Now you done gone and made me jealous! How dare you. J/K! I like your logic...Admirable....Definitely Admirable! A sponge is just that...A sea creature and man seem to not like all the trouble to get them only for them to go bad, Hince man-made sponges. I don't blame them. I also wish I hadda bought the refillables you have, Now I'll just be "Bitting your style"...So be it! The duplication robot I need cost (Gulp) alot more than I thought...the $1700 one is useless to me. The one I need cost $2700...that's gonna take two months of strict saving. My problem is physical labor, IE. changing disc, printing one at a time, cutting covers. Ect. Maybe I should buy a terabyte or more of disc space...I have 400gb now and still 200 on disc after I maxed my 400gb drive. I need a batch printing robot that's refillable or cis able. Any suggestions? For now I'm gonna take maximum orders of five...My job is killing this buiness...I work approx. 200 miles from home....3 hour commute twice a day..I leave home at 4:30am and return home at 7:00pm
