I just downloaded a small movie file (about 20 minutes) but windows media player (or any other players) won't let me fast forward. Every time I try to skip ahead the bar just jumps back to where it was. Basically to watch the last minute you have to watch the 19 minutes before that. Does anyone know how to fix this?????

Try playing the file with Media Player Classic and use Ctlr-Left or Ctrl-Right arrow keys to go forward & rewind.
When I was born I was so shocked that I could'nt speak for 18 months. -
What format? No fast forward is common on AVIs when the file is corrupted. Not unusual with downloads. The timeline is messed up.
If it's a AVI you can probably fix it by running through VirtualDub and resaving it. Other programs should be able to do this also. If MPEG, still is possible.
Look to 'Tools' on the left. >>> for 'Video Repair/Fix'.
