Are you suppose to have an audio cable that connect's between the pinnacle card and your audio card? Many cards have a jumper between them. If you don't and your suppose to then there's the problem.

well i have a pass-through calbe that goes from the output to the in on the sound card. when i record using the software that came with the pinnacle card, it works, sound and all. Also works when i just want to watch tv. but when i capture with avi_io or virtual dub,it doesnt work.
maybe im doin something wrong, dont know -
Overlay is an hardware transaction between the graphicscard and the viedo editing card to show directly on the screen what you are capturing.
therefor you need to set the graphics card on itīs own irq and with an resolution of 800x600 with 16 bits colour.
if you are using an Matrox graphics card this resolution is 800x600 with 24 bits of colour.
for an graphics card with an Nvidia chip I suggest to use the Detonator XP 23.11 driver that you can find on the Nvidia website for an better Overlay.
for an perfect setting of the system you have to set the capture card sound card and the graphics card on its own irq (no other card has to share that irq)
