ok so ive fallen in love with the player! ive searched the forum and didn't find anything about mpeg4 problems. ok so i burnt a dvd with a bunch of mpeg4 and it didnt play. it kept on saying play/pause/play/pause over and over again. i had another dvd with other mpeg4 and it played. I guess this is more of a learing expence...
Did the first dvd not play cause of the encoding on the mpeg4?
...does the 642 have any "special" firware versions

This player won't play just anything encoded to DivX. Some versions of the firmware won't play DivX files if they use QPel and GMC. It may also not like the codec your video uses. Philips has firmware updates, but based on posts in this forum, the most recent update fixed one problem and broke something that used to work, so be careful about upgrades. It is not necessary to upgrade the firmware to put the player in multi-region mode, if that's what you mean by "special" firmware. The DVD Player list at this web site tells how to put the player in multi-region mode.

oh so i burn some more mpeg4 and like it would play for only 1 or 2 seconds then jump to the next chapter, but if i ff at 2,4,or 8x its chill, but if i then play it it will only play for a few seconds then jump again.
