I want to record DVD interlaced so I installed the mainconcept pvr without problems. (instead of WINDVR3)
I try to record in DVD or MPEG 2 mode but in but cases the recorded movie is choppy (even the preview window is jerky when capturing).
I have 2 questions:
- what are the best settings to record MPEG2
- How can I get back the PICVIDEO MJPEG codec, because after installation of Mainconcept PVR, I only have the mainconcept mjpeg codec.
Is there a possibility to have both MJPEG codecs available ?
I have a P4-2.66 MHz - 512 MB - Win XP SP2 - Hauppauge WinTV PCI

I've used the full version of Mainconcept, not the PVR, so this may not be your case, but are you capturing at 720x480 (NTSC)? I've got a P4-1.4 and I can capture mpeg2 at 352x480, 6000 CBR just fine, which looks great (for VHS captures, anyway) and it takes considerably less processor cycles than full resolution. If I try 720x480 my poor system just can't keep up.
Also I turn the preview window off, that also eats cpu cycles.
So you might wanna try that and see if that works for ya. -
filipdebbie.
something is seriously wrong with your system i use mainconcept pvr on a daily basis with my weak system..
go in to the options by clicking the wrench icon now slide the bar until its on a setting of FIVE.
now go into the basic video settings area and change field encoding to top field first.
this is coming from off the top of my head now..
the intial setting for mainconcept PVR is set for DV capturing..
also when capturing with main concept pvr its going to be jerky during a LIVE CAPTURE..there's nothing you can do about it..but rest assured if antivirus isnt running find the captur play it back and marvel at NO jerkiness or dropped frames..
again what your seeing with main concept pvr is NORMAL.. -
LOL, I went by filipdebbie's computer profile (didn't notice the specs in the message itself). The profile says "CPU:466, Memory:192, Hard drive:60" -- I assumed a 466 MHz P3! Obviously, a 2.66 GHz P4 shouldn't have a problem.
