I heard DVDSP has a HI-DEF version.
If you know whether it burns HI-DEF to a regular DVD or DUAL LAYER only?
or? Does it work with an EXTERNAL FIREWIRE BluRay disc?
Any News on what they had at the MACWORLD earlier this year?
And does anyone know if the new Apples will finally debut 2button mice?

Part of the system req. is if you are producing hd stuff you need a dvd tape to burn it to ? or something like that.
Are there any HD dvd players yet ? that you can HD play stuff on.
Never mind about a 2 button mouse, I spent 2 grand on a g5 and never got a mouse mat !

The Upgrade Guide page for DVD SP4 states:
H.264 HD DVD support
The ultra-efficient, next-generation video compression technology, H.264 provides outstanding HD quality at lower SD bit rates. DVD Studio Pro 4 integrates scalable H.264 encoding, so you can burn feature-length HD titles using existing drives with existing media and play them back using the Apple DVD player.
A feature with seemingly limited usefulness, but - for those who do find it useful - a way to get HD on a DVD now, without buying new (and currently all but non-existent) HD burners and players."Dare to be Stupid!" - Wierd Al Yankovic -

Also, DVDSP 4 requires 10.4.1 and DVD Player 4.6, both of which are not yet released.
HD-DVD and BlueRay will have problems on the Mac until Apple supports UDF 2.5 or 2.6 which will be the native format for the disc.
Also, Apple is only writing HD-DVD Video_TS for 0.9 spec. That means that something created now will not meet the final spec and may not even work when players are released.
Seems like they are jumping the gun a little just to get HD on an SD video. -

IF one had a video card with S-Video out (the kind of card some of us will need to get anyway to support Tiger's Core Image), then the DVD Player's playback can be sent to a TV...with aminor loss of quality.
>>So, you can only watch the H.264-encoded HD on a Mac running Tiger & QT7 - until standalone players support that format - if ever - since the trend is toward "true" HD format on HD-DVD or Blu-ray.<< -

Doesn't anyone think it's odd that Apple is part of the Blue Ray Association, but are supporting HD-DVD first?
In any case, this was a pretty lame release for Apple in my opinion. -
i think the hd dvd aspect is more along the line of release like the funk brothers dvd

and i think the one of the t2 dvd's that basic are dvd-rom titles for computer playback that include hd version of the movie. but these titles above were wmv9 versions. even though they are saying hd-dvd's, it doesn't seem yet that it's really related to the format called "HD-DVD".pants on, pants off, pants the floor. -
