  1. Hi, I've been trying to convert my AVI movie files to MPG1(VCD) for the past couple weeks so that I could play them on my DVD player. I've probably downloaded all the conversion programs on the net and have had no luck. They either stop half way or just don't do it. The program i've come closest to with is TMPGenc 2.02, but I am currently having a problem with it. I cannot get it to convert. I can convert the sound to MPG, but when I try to browse and convert the Video it shows my directory path for the file and says "can not open or unsupported." I don't know what to do in order for it to convert the video and audio together. Can someone please help? Thanx

  4. I've had simiar type of problem. One thing that helped me. When your doing the encoding stop the other things that are running on your computer. Anti-virus, internet browers, close all the other things. Just let TMPGenc 2.02 work by itself. The worst thing was Kazaa or lime wire. I was trying you download one movie while encoding another. SOmewhere in the process it would stop. Alway after almost an hour... I haven't had the other problem your talking about. Convert the audio and video together. Besure and load the template for NTSC- VCD.

  5. I've tried closing everything, but still didn't have any luck with my other programs. I really want to convert using TMPgec because it seems to be the best. And yes I do load the VCD settings for it, but it still says that the file type cant be loaded. I think it might be because it might be DIVx but I don't know.

    do this:
    -go to OPTION
    -then ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS
    -then click the last tab, VFAPI PLUG-IN
    -change the priorities...

    here's what they should be:
    -direct show... -> 2
    -avi vfw... -> 1
    -avi2... -> 1
    -wave file... -> 1
    -bmp/ppm/tga... -> 0
