  1. Could someone please inform the users that simply because they request information on a movie they downloaded, it does NOT mean it is an illegal copy!!! Several websites offer movies they want downloaded, e.g. BMW has short action movies (featuring their cars, of course) they want you to download, and ask for your email address to send more info about them. Here is a link to some of their movies:

    http://usa.bmwfilms.com/clap.asp?template=index&country=usa&film=&start=Y

And there also is the airline safety web sites that feature movies and animations of airline disasters as well.

    Download + Movies <> Piracy

There will be a test, so I hope you were taking notes.

  2. Moved to the Feedback forum.

Often, posts can be suspicious. Reporting them for a mod to keep an eye on doesn't really do much harm. I usually don't card unless they're saying something like "I downloaded 'AMovie.telesync.pirategroup.mpg' - how do I convert it".

I can see your point, though.

I would agree with you Kunta Kinte. But i think it will be much easier if people said:

"I have a movie in avi, need to convert it....."

    rather than:

    "I downloaded a movie from P2P...."

    which looks more suspicious.

Not all moviies are copyright protected.

Its really a case of innocent until proven guilty.

Actually, in the US ALL Movies are copyright protected, some copyright owners do not restrict redistribution or copying.

I think the kicker here that ALMOST NOBODY distributes materials through P2P systems. They all like to use their own HTTP or FTP servers. They control it, and for a simple reason: stats.

I made a thread (or two) which was basically a FAQ on this matter (along with the infamous "120 RARs" questions), and it was a sticky for a while. I can't seem to track it down now.
Some people are easily baited, too. They may not start with a warez question, but it just takes a simple "Maybe if I knew the movie's title, I could help out." to land the OP in cards-ville.

I'm waiting for the "I run a prestigious film company, and P2P is the only way we distribute" guys to chime in.

    Again,

I tried this once. Asked for the name of the movie here but it didn't work.

  10. While most of it is all in fun, the Mayor of Cards-ville welcomes those kindly souls who trick newbies
into making such errors. Like all package tour operators, we at videohelp offer twin share accommodation
