I'm guessing that they have packs of both + and -. Its probably set up that way to reduce space in the title

I don't think so.

MultiUse means that it works as both a DVD+R and a DVD-R, therefore whthere you use the DVD-R drive in your PC or the DVD+R recorder under you TV, a Multiuse Disk will work.

Just for info for those in other parts of the world.

Dabs are a UK company that has been in the "Computer" business for quite some years, and are reasonably well known. I have occasionally bought from them and have no complaint. They have a good reputation, although sometimes I have thought their prices to be just a little higher than the competion.

Technology moves on. Perhaps by this time next year there will be many threads in this forum extolling the merits (or otherwise) of various MultiUse DVD's

My father has the minus burner Toshiba SD-R5002. Two years ago, he burned a video on a DVD+RW disk, using this burner (with original firmware). The disk played flawless in all DVD players, for example also in a Pioneer DV-444. The only drawback was, it was no longer possible to erase this disk.

Addition info, as I remember it:
- First, this DVD+RW disk was formatted in a +/- burner Pioneer A06.
- Then burning of the video in the minus burner happened, as described above.
- After that, a new formatting was even in the +/- burner not possible.

I recommend to others, not to repeat this experiment, because I don't know, if that could not harm the minus burner.

As I understand it, the two formats are not too dis-similar, so I can accept that it's possible to create a hi-bred disc.
My question is: What does a dual format burner recognize it as?

I'm curious, but not curious enough order from the UK. I haven't seen these discs listed on any US sites yet.
