  1. i used TMPGEnc dvd author and i did it the way the guide says: load the vob and save to hard drive. my problem is that i can play the mpeg on my computer and it only has audio in the left side and when i drag it inot any program like ulead or cool edit there isn't any audio at all. i thought it might have been that i selected the wrong channel or whatever when saving it but there is only one to select from. any help would me great.

I'm not familiar with Cool Edit, and you didn't mention which Ulead Program you are using, but I'm willing bet you're having codec issues. Does your DVD have AC3 audio? (You can use Gspot to check the file on your HDD.) Does your software support AC3 audio? Have you tried re-installing the codecs?

Hope this helps. Maybe someone else will come along with more precise answers.

    Good Luck!

Does the original Vob only have audio on the left side? I have a cheap VCR and it only puts out mono so all the DVD's I make with my recorder are like that. I have to redo the audio on every one.

  4. How did you get the original VOB ? What is the audio in the VOB. AC3 or MPEG. You require TMPGEnc AC3 plugin to decode AC3 audio.
When I was born I was so shocked that I could'nt speak for 18 months.

  6. the original dvd has only left audio so never mind on that issue but i still can't get any audio from any program i use besides just watching it in my media player.

neither the codec or the plugin made it work. do any of you guys usually rip from dvd to mpeg and try it in ulead video studio, if so tell me how to do it right. or should i just find another method, i'm trying to edit the video.

Why not just get a Y-cord and save the time redoing the audio on every one? (Y-cords are cheap- $2-$3 and I've even seen them in $1 stores).

Some versions of Ulead Video Studio accept AC3 audio, and some don't. Why don't you download Womble MPEG VIDEO WIZARD (30 day free trial) and see if your file works. MVW is a great MPEG editing program, and right now they are offering a discount coupon toward the purchase.

    Good Luck!

If you want the AC3 plugin for TMPGEnc you have to to buy it. Check out TMPGEnc website for details http://www.pegasys-inc.com

  11. the only way i got it to work was to extract the audio off the original vob and join it with ulead, is there a better way?
