i ordered 200 tyg01 4x dvd-rs at supermediastore.com
and i just got a new pc with an 8x dvd-r burner (sony DW-D22A)
is there a way to burn these 4x dvd-rs at 8x?
i keep hearing people are able to burn these 4x dvd-rs at 8x.

Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Some burners by default support 8x on these discs (NEC and Plextor burners come to mind immediately). The Sony drive is not one of them.

My Plextor 716A states 4X - 6X with those discs. At 8X I can count on a coaster or at least a very bad write).
Recommend 4X write.
(My experience with these "value" TY-G01 may differ from yours. Wish I had my money back and stayed with RIMA. )
