My idiot friend has a habit of backing up every dvd he gets. The problem is that he uses DVDdecrypter in File mode and backs up every file on the DVD. I can't use Auto GK to convert it to an AVI because it wasn't done in file mode and doesn't have the "Video Stream Information.txt" file. I thought of re-ripping the DVD from its HD location using DVD Decrypter, but it only reads inputs from the DVD drive.

I tried another way. I managed to merge the movie VOBs into one large VOB and although Auto GK does convert to an avi, I'm gambling with the sound setting, because it will read an unknown audio and the sounds are not de-muxed.

Any clues how I can do this simply? I'm not an expert and the very reason I use Auto GK is because its so damn easy.

  2. You can try vStrip. It is not so easy as DVDDecrypter, but manageable.
Hmm, I see it is not available here. Look at doom9 for download.

Has he backuped the entire video_ts folder(all ifo,bup and vob files)? or just the vob files?

Why not just simply put the original disc back into the DVDROM and re-rip with DVDDecrypter, making sure to create the "Video Stream Information.txt" file this time ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
