I have a Formula 1 GP on divx, it has a stupid resolution of 416x336, it's simply too square, I want to resize whole video to 512x384.
I did a couple of tests, few minutes for each video, with Virtualdubmod using the resize filter and trying differents encoders like Divx 4 low/high motion, Divx 5 and the Xvid encoder, but I can't find a scientific method to calculate (recalculate ?) bit rate and/or quality settings, the PC will take at least 1:49 hrs to redone the video, but I'm pretty sure that the file will be too big or too small to fit properly on a single CD (now it's 698MB).
Wich is the best method and settings ?

Probably something like gourdian knot (spelling ?) which takes a lot of the guess work out of it. Look it up in the tools section.
Having said that, if you change the proportions of the video to make it less square without appropriately cropping it, you will simply get distorted video.Read my blog here.
